What's Next for Workers' Compensation in Illinois?

Join us for a workshop on Workers' Compensation in Illinois. During the first half of this workshop we will discuss Work Comp Reform and what you need to know prior to the September 1, 2011 deadline. Topics to be discussed include:

  • Synopsis of HB 1698
  • PPO Networks, Utilization Review
  • 30% Medical Fee Reduction
  • Wage, PPD and Carpal Tunnel Caps
  • NCCI, Insurance Premiums and Reporting Requirements
  • Employer Cost Analysis

During part two of this workshop will elaborate on the the Medicare Payer Law (MSP) and how it affects Workers' Compensation claims. MSP is the federal law Medicare uses to establish its status as a secondary payer of benefits when there is a primary payer present (such as Workers' Compensation). By way of a three-pronged approach, Medicare enforces its secondary payer position:

  • Medicare Payer Law (MSP)
  • Section 111 Reporting
  • Conditional Payments
  • Future Interests of Medicare

Federal courts have termed the Medicare Secondary Payer Law a "model of unclarity". If you are looking for clarity, this workshop puts the MSP law into a day-today usable form and is not filled with legal terminology!
